“Bayanihan” stakeholders grace 3ID’s 40th founding anniversary



CAMP GENERAL MACARIO B PERALTA JR., Jamindan, Capiz – Another milestone was charted in the history of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division as it celebrated its 40th Founding Anniversary here yesterday May 23, 2014.

It was a very momentous event as the grandstand was filled with the 3ID’s stakeholders coming from the local government units and agencies, non-government organizations both local and international and other stakeholders in its area of responsibility together with the men and women of the Division and the local populace of Brgy Jaena Norte and the neighbour barangays of the municipality of Jamindan, Capiz.

This year’s anniversary theme of “Dagyaw para sa Kalinaw” (working together for peace) was at the core of the event giving appropriate recognition to the support that has been done by the local government units, agencies, organizations and individuals in winning the peace in Western Visayas through the Internal Peace and Security Plan “Bayanihan”.

A fitting recognition was also given to the dedicated and meritorious service done by worthy soldiers and civilian employees of the Division.

The occasion was graced by no less than the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, LtGen Hernando DCA Iriberri and 3ID Commander, MGen Aurelio B Baladad who led the Wreath Laying Ceremonies for the fallen soldiers of the 3ID to commemorate their sacrifices in the name of peace and development.

On his message during the anniversary ceremonies, LtGen Iriberri commended the 3ID and partner individuals and organizations in promoting the genuine spirit of Bayanihan who equally share ownership to victories that the 3rd Infantry Division has gained throughout the years in pursuit of peace and development.

Iriberri also cited on his message the other soldiers deployed in the jungles and hinterlands of Western Visayas who are quietly fulfilling their duties in ensuring peace and security in the region and who are equally instrumental to the gains registered for the Army Transformation Roadmap and the progressions that the Army has made in its quest for excellence.

Awarded with 3ID’s Bayanihan award are the following partner individuals and organizations: Hon. Roel Degamo, Governor of Negros Oriental; Ms Ma. Lina Sanogal, the Action Officer of the Provincial – Peace Integration and Development Unit (Pro-PIDU) of Negros Occidental; Ms Farah Gentuya, Provincial Director of DILG, Negros Oriental; Ms Maria Lourdes Tison of Paghidaet sa Paghili-usa sang Negros (PSPN); Fernando Arroyo, Team Leader of the Roxas Coordination Hub of the United Nations-Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA); Ms Marit Stinus Cabugon of the Center for Freedom, Democracy and Inclusive Development, Inc.; Dr Jessie Cañete, OIC, Commission on Human Rights-Negros Oriental; Hon Bentham Dela Cruz, President, League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP), Negros Oriental Chapter; Mr Zoe Herrera Jr., Secretary of Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Capiz; Operation Blessing Foundation, Philippines; Gawad Kalinga – Panay and PNP Regional Office 6.

Other awards also include: Best Brigade of the Year -302nd Brigade; Best Battalion-11th Infantry Battalion; Company Commander and Platoon Leader of the Year; Operations, Intelligence and Civil-Military Operations officers of the Year; Enlisted Personnel for Administration and Operations of the Year; Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) of the Year and Civilian Employee of the Year.

MGen Baladad, 3ID Commander graciously congratulated the awardees for their selfless-service that significantly contributed to the accomplishment of 3ID’s mission. Baladad also acknowledged the sacrifices of the Spearhead troopers during the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response operations in the aftermath of super typhoon ‘Yolanda’, who walked the extra mile in saving the lives of several people and remained steadfast in their duties despite being the victims as well of said calamity.

“In our resolute efforts, we will give flesh to our theme for this year’s anniversary observance “Dagyaw para sa Kalinaw”. Let us together champion peace as this network of partnership that we have established, is further strengthened and broadened to include the entire Filipino nation,” added Baladad.
