FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – In support to the Alay-Lakad Foundation, Inc. and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Army will participate in the Alay-Lakad Walk 2014, taking the estimated 2-kilometer route from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CPP) Complex to Quirino Grandstand, on Sunday, September 7.
300 Army personnel will join participants from the AFP General Headquarters, Philippine Navy, and Philippine Air Force, while thousands of participants from the different sectors of society are expected to show their support by participating in the walkathon.
Army Chief Lt Gen Hernando DCA Iriberri will lead the Army contingent in the Alay Lakad. Participation in this activity is part of the Army’s multi-sectoral approach and inter-agency collaboration that aims to provide support to the endeavors of other government agencies, civic and non-government organizations.
The Alay-Lakad Foundation, Inc. (ALFI) has been providing financial assistance for Filipino youth, especially the marginalized and Out-of-School Youth (OSY), for 42 years now. Carrying the theme, “Lakad para sa Kinabukasan”, the Alay-Lakad Walk 2014 aims to raise funds to ensure the future of the less-privileged Filipino youth.
