Connecting Lives in Northern Samar

In the pursuit of 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion’s mission to perform vertical and horizontal construction projects for the Philippine Army and to   support the socio-economic program of the government, this unit is tasked to undertake the 2.6 kilometers      construction/ improvement of Colab-og -Lungib-Buenasuerte -Pasabuena -Maxvilla Road Project at the municipality of Victoria, Northern Samar. The   project is part of the Peace and Prosperity Program (PPP) of the national government funded under the Inter-Agency Fund (IAF).

At the start of the road project, the community did not seem to see the value of the unit undertakings but through the untiring effort and initiative of the officers and men of the unit headed by its commanding officer LTC JUSTINIANO S ACHUMBRE CE (GSC) PA, the unit conducted various Civil Military Operation (CMO) activities to win the sympathy of the people such as    giving of school bags and food stuff in partnership with  the Rotary Club of Mactan and the repair of school    comfort room and flag pole at Gonzaga Elementary School, Barangay Zone III, Victoria, Northern Samar.

Through the assistance of 53rd Dental   Detachment from H53E led by 1LT OLIVER GABITO (DS) PA, this unit conducted a Dental Civic Action     Program last 20 March 2014 that benefited the   community and nearby barangays. At present, you can see the overwhelming smile of the people when they see the Army Engineers along the community working for the completion of their road. Now, the community along the road project have  realized the value of hard work and perseverance   demonstrated by the soldiers.
