Army Battalions in Panay and Negros get new commanders
CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz – The Army’s 82nd Infantry “Bantay-Laya” Battalion based in Miag-ao, Iloilo and 47th Infantry “Katapatan” Battalion based in Cauayan, Negros Occidental will have new commanders next week; while the 12th(Cadre) Battalion based in Banga, Aklan had its new commander recently.
Lieutenant Colonel Enriqueto Deocadez Jr will assume as the new commanding officer of 82IB while Lieutenant Colonel Pompeyo Jason Almagro will take over the command of 47IB.
Lt Col Deocadez will replace Lt Col Aldwine Almase on Monday, October 13. Deocadez is the current Executive Officer of the Army’s 301st Infantry “Bayanihan” Brigade.
Before he became the Ex-O of 301st Brigade, Deocadez served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, G7 of the 3rd Infantry Division who was highly involved in the orchestration of the Civil-Military Coordination during the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response operations in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda last year.
Meanwhile, Lt Col Almagro will replace Lt Col Ariel Reyes as commanding officer of 47IB on Tuesday, October 14. Almagro is the current commanding officer of the Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Battalion based in Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz. Prior to his designation as commanding officer of CMO Battalion, Almagro also served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, G7 of 3ID.
Lt Col Reyes succeeded Lt Col Wilfredo Isaac as the commanding officer of the 12th (Cadre) Battalion last October 7, 2014. Isaac is slated for schooling for his career advancement while Almase will assume a staff position at headquarters, 3ID.
Deocadez and Almagro are graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Maalab” Class of 1993 while Almase, Reyes and Isaac belong to PMA “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992.
The command of 3ID has its full trust and confidence with Lt Col Deocadez and Lt Col Almagro. Their competence and extensive background in Civil-Military Operations will definitely bring significant results in the Division’s peace and development efforts in the areas of Panay and Negros Islands.
While Lt Col Reyes has surely contributed much in the internal peace and security operations in Negros Occidental, his services will now be needed in Panay as commander of 12th (Cadre) Battalion.
“The leadership change in the battalions of 3ID is very important in coping with the dynamics of our organization,” 3ID Commander Major General Rey Leonardo Guerrero said in a statement.
