Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – Applying the “One AFP, One WESCOM” concept all units under WESCOM actively participated in the successful conduct of one-day lP Youth Health Fair to more or less 300 Indigenous Peoples’ children and youth of Barangay Bahile and Salvacion in Puerto Princesa City on October 04, 2014 at the Puerto Princesa City compound within the City Agriculturist Office’s Rural Agricultural Center in Barangay Salvacion, Puerto Princesa City.
The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Palawan Conservation Corps, Black Pencil Project, Lifeline Foundation, Kiwanis International Palawan, Puerto Princesa Club, St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Foundation Egypt, PIGLAS Palawan, Palawan Bridging Leaders, City PNP, WESCOM Civilian Employees Association and the Local Government Units. The objectives of the activity are to provide humanitarian assistance, establish connection with IP Youth and their communities, and further provide development space for the Palawan Bridging Leaders of Puerto Princesa.
Part of the activities, included MEDCAP and DENTCAP, food feeding, giving of toys and slippers, giving of school supplies, free haircut, tree planting of more or less 300 fruit bearing and forest trees, boodle fight, parlor games, personality development and storytelling.
The activity is in line with celebration of the National Children’s Month in October with theme, “Bata Kasali Ka, Ikaw ay Mahalaga” and the AFP’s effort to promote the protection of the children and of the Indigenous Peoples Youth.
