Roxas City now Peaceful and Ready for Further Development

Roxas City – The City Government of Roxas, Roxas City Police Office, and the 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army signed a joint memorandum declaring Roxas City as peaceful and ready for further development in a ceremony held here at 2:00 PM of December 22, 2014.

Hon Angel Alan Celino, Mayor of Roxas City, Lt Col Victor Llapitan, Commanding Officer of the 61st Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, and Police Superintendent Julio Gustilo, Chief of Roxas City Police Office signed the joint memorandum.

Roxas City was declared peaceful and ready for further development in view of its current security, economic and development situation.

The sustained security efforts of the 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion with active support from the Roxas City Police, and the uninterrupted economic and developmental activities spearheaded by the Roxas City Government, has successfully prevented and denied the entry, influence and threat from the insurgents.

Furthermore, the socio-economic accomplishments to include tourism, investments and infrastructure boosted the progress of Roxas City.

The signing was witnessed by Honorable Victor A Tangco, Governor of Capiz, Major General Rey Leonardo B Guerrero, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, Police Chief Superintendent Josephus G Angan, Director of the Police Regional Office 6, Colonel Eric Uchida, Commander of the Army’s 301st Brigade and Hon Jose Agdalipe, SP Chairman for Peace and Order of Roxas City Council.

Mayor Angel Alan Celino of Roxas City verbally expressed his profound gratitude to the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police for playing significant roles towards this achievement.

Meanwhile, MGen Rey Leonardo Guerrero reminded everyone that peace efforts should not end with this. He enjoined everyone to be vigilant against threats to peace so that these gains shall be sustained in the communities.

MGen Guerrero also prompted the people to stay on the right path towards peace through united efforts with the City Government of Roxas.
