FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Office of the Provincial Sports Council in the Province of Ifugao commended the Philippine Army for the assistance in sports development programs and projects of the province.
They commended Lt Gen Hernando DCA Iriberri, Commanding General of the Philippine Army; Col Leodevic B Guinid, Commanding Officer of the Army’s Special Services Center; Major Patricio C Bumidang Jr, Head Coach of the Philippine Army Football Team; and the Enlisted Personnel assigned as coaches and trainers namely, Sergeants Jose A Sanchez and Roel Pacional, Corporals Sonny R Dollente and Alonzo V Jardin and Private First Class Rocky Garciano.
In a resolution dated April 21, 2015 from the Provincial Sports Council of Ifugao signed by the Provincial Governor and Chairman of the Provincial Sports Council, Hon Denis B Habawel, said that the Provincial Sports Council of Ifugao commended the above-mentioned officers and personnel of the Philippine Army for their positive response to the request of the province for assistance in the conduct of sports skills training clinic and the training of selected athletes to the regional school-based competition held in Baguio City on February 7-11, 2015.
The Council further said that the management of the training of athletes by the Army personnel contributed to the competitiveness, confidence, and moral of the provincial athletes during the regional sports meet.
They stressed that the deployment of Army personnel in the depressed fur-flung villages in the country to promote the development and consciousness of the people on the benefits of sports hits the right direction in the attainment of the goals of the “Sports for Peace” program of the military and the national government as well.
The Philippine Army is also being sought as sports stakeholders in the Province of Ifugao.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Army sports development program is continuously pursued through the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR) and the engagement and partnership with other stakeholders is a fulfillment of the precepts of IPSP Bayanihan.
